More than 70 fashion shows will be held for five days in a row displaying designs from famous to young designers and fashion creators in Jogja Fashion Week 2012. This annual fashion show and exhibition will take place in Jogja Expo Center from July 4 to July 8, 2012.
Themed ‘Dharmasukma’, derived from Sanskrit, which means a commitment in behavior, good will, and in passion to the harmony of nature which based on cultural and traditions understanding, the 7th Jogja Fashion Week will feature designs from about 70 fashion designers and creators from Yogyakarta, Solo, Semarang, Pekalongan and Jakarta as well from Bali and Sumatra.
Elkana Gunawan, Lulu Lutfi Labibi, Dana Rahardja, Afif Syakur, Noni Zakiyah, Intan Avantie, Lia Mustafa, Philip Iswardono, and Tomy Tri Wahyudi are some of the names that will adorn the list of top Indonesia designers in a highlight fashion show which will run on all-white nuanced catwalk. While from the younger designers, names like Temi Sumarlin, Nisa Madina, Monique Gracia, Dian Permata, Nadi Karmadi and brands like Embrio Batique, Eight Distro, Friday to Sunday, La Belle, and QAy’s Closet will enliven the Youth Fashion Show.
According to Afif Syakur, Chairman of the Committee, the theme represents an essential and simple fashion designs, using natural dyeing process and traditional materials with a fine yet strong cutting, within a concept of the designers understanding of culture and tradition.
“The designers want to explore the wealth of the archipelago, its culture and tradition, as an inspiration in their designs. While the event is also an opportunity for manufacturers of fashion and accessories to show off their creations,” he said to the press on Monday, June 25.
Six major agenda which combine fashion sales, carnival, seminars, fashion show, exhibitions and competition will be presented during five days arrangement: Fashion Exhibition and Tourism Expo, Fashion Show “Dharmasukma”, Fashion on the Street Carnival “Gempita Sukma Raya”, Youth Fashion Show, Fashion Designing Competition “Soul of Dharma”, and One Day Workshop with Anne Avantie “Inspiration, Works, & Love”.
